Żabka Polska sends 60 tons of food worth over PLN 1 million to the people of Ukraine

Thanks to the commitment of Żabka’s customers, the chain raised over PLN 1,000,000. Funds obtained thanks to Żappka users – who chose to exchange their loyalty points collected during shopping, i.e. żappsy as a charity donation – and customers – who decided to donate via non-cash payments – will be transferred to organizations carrying out aid activities in Ukraine. Part of the funds also helped finance another transport with humanitarian aid. A dedicated freight train from Grupa Żabka, CVC Capital Partners and Partners Group has arrived in Kiev. The civilian population will receive 60 tons of food with a long shelf life, water and necessary hygiene products. The train was organized in cooperation with the Warsaw City Hall.

– Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, we have been fully in solidarity with the Ukrainian community. We continue to carry out many activities aimed at providing support to people affected by the war. In total, we donated over 520 tons of food and hygiene products to humanitarian organizations. We also sent a seperate shipment of humanitarian aid using a dedicated freight train. In “aid activities” we also involved customers and our network who could support the fundraiser in Żabka stores and exchange “żappsy’ tokens for charity donations. Thanks to their financial support, humanitarian organizations will be able to operate in Ukraine in the long term and be able to support those in need – says Adam Manikowski, Vice President of the Management Board, Managing Director of Żabka Polska.

Dedicated Freight Train

A special cargo train with humanitarian aid that has reached Kiev is the second one organized in cooperation with the Warsaw City Hall, coordinating cooperation with the Kyiv City Office. Transporting 60 tons of food and necessary hygiene products to Ukraine is another contribution of Żabka Group – belonging to CVC Capital Partners and Partners Group – helping the Ukrainian community. In total, Żabka transferred over 520 tons of food and necessary hygiene products to the border in cooperation with partners, including: Podkarpackie Voivodeship Office, Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, Polish Red Cross, Polish Humanitarian Action, InSpire Foundation, Happy Kids Foundation, Polish Federation of Food Banks and the Polish Association of Ukrainians. The franchisees of Żabka are also involved in aid actions – people who run shops near the border distribute hot drinks and snacks, and in other cities they organize collections and deliver goods to the border with their own cars.

Charity donation

The network also involved its clients in the assistance of these activities. Users of the Żappka mobile application had the opportunity to exchange loyalty points collected during purchases, so-called “żappsy”, for charity donations. To help, it was enough to install a mobile application and “buy a charity donation”, that is, activate it for the appropriate amount of żappsów. The second way of supporting charity organizations conducting aid activities in Ukraine, which Żabka gave to its clients, was the possibility of secure donation via non-cash payments. When visiting Żabka stores, customers could select any amount of their choice and make a cashless payment, without having to go shopping.
