IKEA joins the European Sustainable Business Network

IKEA, one of the world’s largest furniture and home furnishings retailer, has joined the European Sustainable Business Network. This is another example of the company’s activities to promote sustainable development, while building awareness of ESG (Environmental Social Governance) issues.

“At IKEA, we are driven by the vision of improving the everyday life for people. A better planet is a better home for all of us. Climate change, diminishing natural resources and loss of biodiversity threaten this vision – both today and for future generations. IKEA wants to respond to these challenges by becoming climate positive in 2030. However, no one can deal with such critical global problems alone. That is why we join coalitions and networks that connect companies and organizations with goals similar to ours. ESBN has just become one of them. ” – says Agata Czachórska, Country Sustanability Manager at IKEA Retail Sp. z o.o.

IKEA was established in 1953 in Älmhult, Sweden, and has been operating in Poland for over 60 years. Since 2012, he has been running his business based on the People & Planet Positive sustainable development strategy, striving for full circularity, producing products only from renewable or recycled materials, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions in absolute terms by more than emits the entire IKEA value chain. The company also facilitates a more planet-friendly home life by offering affordable, functional and well-designed sustainable products for everyday life.

“We are very excited that IKEA has made the decision to join the ESBN organization. We hope this will be the start of a new relationship based on furthering cooperation in our joint mission of building new business standards based on models of sustainable development.” – says Mirosław Kaznowski, Chairman of the European Sustainable Business Network

European Sustainable Business Network – brings together companies that have taken specific actions for the pro-ecological transformation of the business world. The fundamental principle followed by our partners is to adapt to the requirements of sustainable development and to take actions aimed at reducing the carbon footprint. For this purpose, they use exemplary design examples, innovative technologies and modern methods of planning and organizing work based on the ESG strategy.
