InPost and MODIVO introduce reusable packaging to ecommerce

InPost – a leader in delivery services for e-commerce in Europe – together with MODIVO, the fashion e-commerce platform of the company eobuwie.pl from the CCC group, has started tests on reusable ecological packaging for e-stores. As a result, the need for disposable packaging can be reduced tenfold. Each package has an internal return label – after scanning it in any Paczkomaty® point the package can be returned to the InPost warehouse, and then returned to the e-shop.

– Last year alone, over 640 million parcels were sent in Poland, this year there will be even more. Unfortunately, packaging is the Achilles’ heel of the e-commerce industry. Every year, hundreds of millions of disposable packages end up in the trash.

With the current growth of the e-commerce market, there is only one direction – logistics must be modern, efficient and even more ecological. That is why we are introducing the first Polish system of recycling packaging in e-commerce. The packages are sized to the shipped product, so as not to transport air. As a market leader, we believe that the availability of InPost Paczkomaty® parcel lockers and the ease of use of them will enable the introduction of a truly effective system for transit of reusable packaging – says Rafał Brzoska, President of InPost.

MODIVO, the e-commerce platform of eobuwie.pl, will join the project as the first retailer in Poland.

– Maintaining a balanced approach in the context of growing our business is very important to us. Market research shows that consumers are increasingly concerned about the excess packaging in circulation and are considering recycling options. This topic is also important to our employees. That is why we are the first in Poland to take up the InPost challenge and join the project in which we will provide customers with reusable packaging. After receiving the parcel, all that needs to be done is to return the box to the nearest InPost Parcel Locker so that it can be returned to circulation after thorough cleaning. We strongly encourage everone to participate in the project – let’s all do our bit to speed up the green revolution in e-commerce! – says Damian Zapłat, president of eobuwie.pl S.A. from the CCC group.

Rafał Brzoska points out that thanks to the extensive network of Paczkomaty® parcel lockers – of which there are already 15,000 – InPost is the only company in Poland that is able to ensure that the packaging can be reused.

Rafał Brzoska, InPost President

– At InPost, we realize that with the current growth in ecommerce development, there is only one direction – logistics must be modern, efficient and very responsible. That is why we believe that our e-commerce partners will join our project. We invite all companies that want to contribute to ecological activities to the project. Reusable packaging is the future – emphasizes Rafał Brzoska.

Of course, it would not be possible without the pro-ecological commitment of MODIVO, which successively implements the sustainable development strategy of the CCC Group. Its goal is to have a real and positive impact on the surrounding reality. The activities of the e-commerce platform concern four areas focused around: products, the natural environment, employees and society.

– Among the many activities of the company, it is worth distinguishing, among others, introducing and promoting brands, collections and eco-friendly lines. Environmentally friendly materials and a sustainable approach to fashion are key issues for the brand. Soon, the brand will announce organizations and institutions with which it will cooperate in 2022 and will jointly act for the environment and society, not only in Poland but also abroad – adds Damian Zapłata.

Paczkomaty® InPost parcel lockers are the most ecological form of online shopping. InPost research shows that ordering a parcel to a parcel locker reduces CO2 emissions by up to 75% compared to delivery directly to the customer’s home. Only in 2020, deliveries to Paczkomaty® InPost parcel lockers reduced CO2 emissions by over 180,000 tons. Further development and optimization of the Paczkomaty® InPost network will contribute to reducing car traffic in cities, which will translate into improvement of air quality and climate protection.
