Smurfit Kappa, a leader in innovative and sustainable packaging solutions, has won 13 awards in the international WorldStar 2022 competition.
The projects, including: an innovative corrugated cardboard packaging for the transport of fresh fish, a paper lamp wrapper, replacing metal and plastic elements and a space-saving and easy-to-assemble candy display, received the highest awards in this year’s edition of the competition for the best packaging in the world.
“Beverages” is one of the categories in which Smurfit Kappa especially stood out at this year’s WorldStar competition. The award was given to the popular packaging solution TopClip – a multi-pack paper holder for carrying canned drinks, which is an ecological alternative to the commonly used shrink film. TopClip is one of the products from the Better Planet portfolio. Packaging by Smurfit Kappa, which are very popular among companies striving to reduce their negative impact on the environment.
The competences of Smurfit Kappa in the field of e-commerce packaging were also appreciated. The jury chose both elegant gin packaging and “The BeeeerBox” as the winner, ie a box with a one-piece insert for three bottles or cans.
On the other hand, in the Point-of-Sale category, the jury’s recognition and the first prize was won by the effective packaging solution “Winoteka Netto”, from Poland. It is a free-standing display made of corrugated cardboard for decorative bags and practical carriers, in which customers can pack wine bottles.

The 13 awarded Smurfit Kappa products come from Brazil, the Czech Republic, Germany, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Slovakia and Sweden. This year’s WorldStar Global Packaging Awards ceremony will take place in Milan in May.
