Deloitte Poland aims to achieve Net-Zero by 2030

The consulting company Deloitte intends to achieve climate neutrality in Poland by 2030, and only use green energy by 2025 . The recently published Deloitte 2021 Global Impact Report shows that in the current fiscal year (ended May 2021), the company’s global revenues were $ 50.2 billion, or 3.5 percent more than in the previous year. The company employs over 345 thousand high quality experts worldwide, 2,700 of whom are based in Poland.

In the last financial year, Deloitte focused on helping clients respond to the pandemic, providing employees with mental and physical well-being, supporting local communities and caring for the natural environment.

As the world’s largest professional services organization, Deloitte wants to make an impact. For over 345 thousand employees, including 2,700 in Poland, this means working on solving more and more complex problems and creating conditions that will make progress in reducing social and economic inequalities and climate change.


Impact on the climate

Deloitte worked with the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council to develop a set of environmental, social and governance (ESG) indicators that companies can use to report on progress against the priorities set out in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This commitment also manifests itself in practice. Deloitte in Poland aims to achieve climate neutrality (net-zero) by 2030. Offices located in 9 cities already mostly use energy from renewable sources, and by 2025 RES will become the sole source of energy for offices Deloitte in Poland. At the moment, works are underway on the strategy of purchasing CO2 offset and lowering the emissivity of the implemented projects.

The impact of climate change on business is our priority in cooperation with our clients. As a leader in this area, we support them in the climate transformation and incorporation of ambitious environmental goals into business processes. In the last financial year alone, we implemented almost 40 projects in Poland and in the region, helping companies in the preparation and implementation of ESG strategies. We also support the local government sector and public institutions in this area . “

In the last fiscal year experts at Deloitte organized 9 publicly available webinars on climate change and ESG regulations and the practical aspects of sustainable development. Almost 2,500 people benefited from this knowledge. In addition, the company supports key market initiatives to increase climate education and awareness of business responsibility. Deloitte is one of the initiators of the establishment of the World Economic Forum in Davos in the Polish branch of the climate initiative – Chapter Zero Poland . It was established at the Responsible Business Forum and deals with climate education of supervisory board members.

Through the activities of the SheXO club, which currently includes 900 female leaders from all over Poland, Deloitte Poland supports women in business. In turn, students aspiring to the role of managers can develop in the WomenThatMatters program, in which 69 young women held individual development sessions with 67 experienced mentors from Deloitte . So far, more than 300 hours of mentor time have been allocated to these sessions. For years, employee volunteering has been an important element of Deloitte’s organizational culture. This year, each employee can devote at least one day of work to pro bono projects. The pandemic also increased awareness of the need to take care of mental health. Wellbeing initiatives are implemented throughout the organization, enabling employees to cope with the effects of forced isolation.


Impact on the future

Solving the problems of the modern world, such as climate change, poverty or limited access to education, requires commitment, knowledge and experience, also on the part of business. Recently established Deloitte Polska implements initiatives that have a significant impact on the life of the community, involving the company’s employees. Its goal is to implement projects focusing on three key areas – education, climate and charity. It will be possible thanks to financial support, organization of trainings and workshops, implementation of research projects, publishing activities, conducting and participation in conferences, seminars and other public events.
