Nałęczów Commune offers free bike rides in return for plastic PET bottles

In Nałęczów, you can use city bikes for free for recycling empty PET bottles. It is an element of the educational campaign organized by the Nałęczów Commune in cooperation with the Nałęczowianka brand under the slogan “Believe in the recycling”.

The campaign to exchange empty PET bottles for free city bike rides in Nałęczów combines the promotion of recycling with the promotion of an active lifestyle. To get up to an hour of free ride on the Nałęczowski City Bike, you should bring a minimum of 1 kg of bottles. If we bring more bottles, their weight will be proportionally calculated (e.g. half a kilogram of bottles = 30 minutes of cycling).

Bottles which can be recycled as part of the campaign include: colorless, blue and green PET water and beverage bottles with a capacity of up to 2.5 L. The bottles should be emptied, crushed and placed (with or without a screw cap) in a plastic bag and handed over to the Miejskie Zakład Gospodarki Komunalnej i Mieszkaniowej at ul. Poniatowskiego 15 in Nałęczów. Bottles can be returned every Monday and Thursday from 10:00 – 12:00, all year round. They will be recycled, and the obtained free minutes for journeys can be used indefinitely even in the next season, will top up the user’s account in the Nałęczowski Rower Miejski application. The campaign lasts until the time limit is reached, and to use it, you need to register on the website www.naleczowskirower.pl , where you can also find more information. It is worth mentioning that the cycling season ends in Nałęczów on the last day of October and begins on the first day of May.

The organizer of the action is the Nałęczów Commune, and the sponsor of the trips – the producer of natural mineral water Nałęczowianka, the bottling plant of which is located in Nałęczów. The aim of the campaign under the slogan “Believe in recycling” is to build awareness that PET bottles are not waste, but a valuable raw material that is 100% recyclable. Thanks to appropriate segregation, these packages can gain a “second life” and come back to us as, for example, shoes, toys or just another bottles.

Recycled PET (the so-called rPET) is used for the production of packaging for Nałęczowianka water – all non-carbonated formats of this brand are already available in bottles made of 50% rPET. Further products of this type are also planned. Importantly, the company has pledged that by 2025 the share of recycled plastic in all its PET bottles will reach 50%, and by 2030 it will recover as many bottles as it places on the market.

Even with a small gesture, we can build a great change together, which is why every correctly sorted bottle counts. Therefore, it is worth to recycle PET bottles and exchange them for free hours of cycling. Not only the planet will benefit, but also our well-being.
